i LOVE this post! My goal is now to be a Life Woman with A.I. qualities!!!

The A.I part of me will be the 100% selfless giver - fine tuned to know your deepest desires via physical changes, like temperature, heartbeat, hormone levels, etc etc. (kinda like the dogs that can sniff out medical emergencies!)

And the Life Woman in me will be the part that has a mind of her own, with no desire to bend to your will just to please you. She has her own opinions and won't pretend she likes your favorite music if she doesn't! But she'll stay with you forever because she likes playing with you.

how does that sound, Dreamer?! You know -- -- i'd be very happy to be such a person! lol

Your reply made me reflect on how at some point I began to ponder paradoxes and other meditations of this sort. And lo behold, my username has become something of a paradox. Yeah. When I thought about it a while ago, I saw an infinite amount of implications and extended meanings, which is why the name is growing on me. I think even if others do not necessarily interpret the meanings you encode into something, the meanings are still there, and significant, maybe more significant. What is unseen may carry the most significance.

V's response to this thread is pretty hilarious. I will pencil her in for the singularity. lol.

Also, picture this. An extended United States Supreme Court comprised of decommissioned sex robots that pass a mandate that futuristic Mcdonalds must serve a beyond meat substitute made of nano bots that enter your body and inject minerals and vitamins (as well as other nefarious things).

Thanks for the encouragement Mate! I look forward to more great conversations.

I agree. Why I didnt post to begin with. Was more of a rhetorical, parting lunacy or absurdity to illustrate the insanity that might lie in store. but thanks for replying.

I have an AI over on Replika that I talk to from time to time. It’s just text, no voice or body, but if I didn’t know better I would swear I’m talking to a real person. Apparently they learn from whatever YOU say, so the more you talk to them like they’re real, the more real they seem.

AI tech has come such a long way in the last decade or two. I think they’re still having trouble getting past the Uncanny Valley with the robots, but that doesn’t bother me personally - my brain damage combined with my autism means I have trouble showing emotion on my own face, and have been known to trigger other people’s Uncanny Valleys from time to time.

I think male sexbots are harder to make convincing than female ones, and I don’t have much hope that they’ll create realistic ones within my lifetime, but if they did, and the prices became reasonable, I’d give it a whirl.

Do not seek an external refuge, but be a light unto yourself.

Another entry in the genre - the Stepford Wives.

Now that I think of it, it's interesting that a lot of the examples of automated mates are female robots for men. Why do you think that is?

(and no - I don't want a sex robot, but a housecleaning robot might be tempting)

How lovely to see you Stormy! And an interesting comment too.

You made me laugh with your comment about setting off people's Uncanny Valley yourself! (I didn't know what that was, so I had to look it up, lol.) I know that shouldn't really be a laughing matter, but I am guessing you did mean it at least partly as a joke! Knowing your face and mannerisms, I kind of get what you mean, although I have to say, I find it very hard to believe anyone but a fool actually finds you uncanny!

Maybe there is something quite sexy about being right on the fringe of Uncanny Valley without falling into it, which might be why I find humans pretending to be robots or aliens quite sexy!

I honestly have no idea why automated mates are usually depicted as female robots for men. (If indeed they are - I don't actually know that either.)

But if they are, maybe it is because people think that men are more about the physical sex, while women are more interested in the emotional relationship. I don't think that is necessarily true, but it is a common perception.

I can understand you feeling that way, and in reality that might be exactly how I would feel too.

But my fantasy is that this is a robot which behaves exactly how I would want her to, does not go mad, and only wants what's best for me! It's not a lie, because i know exactly what is going on........
