My Goulian's...Part one....Follow up post above.

When i was away in Gosford a few weeks back i stayed at my cousins but visited other cousins, their & my Auntie.
My Auntie has an aviary full of birds, finches actually.

It has been years since i had my Parrot Floyd or any animal for that matter.
When my Auntie took me down to see the birds i was amazed to see she had so many of the brightest coloured Goulian Finches.
Years before my youngest & i had been in a pet shop, again up on the central coast, & we had spotted these amazing little birds & fallen in love with them. A month or so earlier i had bought my four Zebra Finches & he really loved the little things. Before we knew it they were breeding, we must have got them just at the right time they settled in so fast they feathered nests & got into breeding. 4 quickly turned into 6 then 8. So here we were, my young & i looking at these beautiful rainbow coloured Finches knowing we couldn't afford to buy a pair.

All these years later here i was standing in front of my Aunties aviary & she had more than she knew what to do with.
She offered me 2 breeding pairs, some babies, not yet coloured up, 2 pairs of these other tiny little fire breasted Finches & 4 Quail.

We put them all carefully into a box & i drove the 4 1/2 hours home.
I checked them when i got home, as it was after dark i had to wait to release them in the morning.

When the morning came, so did, all the colour & sweet twittering in my own aviary as i released
one after the other these stunningly coloured little birds, flittered about throughout their new home.

Then came the Quail...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8...OMG i ended up with 11 Quail.
My Auntie & cousin thought it was soooo funny when they spoke to me on the phone later, asking, "So how did you go with the Quail?"
My Auntie couldn't get rid of them so she put as many as she could in that box & here i was ankle deep in Quail scurrying & flapping all over the place.

Either way i was happy & my was over the moon when he saw them.....Memories from all those years back & here we were now with these beautiful feathered creatures bringing instant life to my big empty aviary.

Each morning & throughout the days i have been enjoying the twittering from my back garden. It's been lovely to go stand or sit on a chair & watch them flit about, flat out, busy about their business. Or i'd stand in amongst them.
Their colours & sounds so cheerful.

What a great gift from a wonderful Auntie.
