Bestest Friends.

I am sure that anyone who has had a conversation about pets with me knows that at at one time I had a named Lucky. Lucky walked into my life one night as I sat reading a book while working at a Shell station as my second full time job. I heard the automatic doors open but saw no one there. They opened again and I still saw nothing, but this happened occasionally if a bat or bird flew by the motion sensor so I dismissed it and ignored the phenomenon. However I began to hear crunching noises as if chips were being opened. I looked over the counter and there was Lucky. He was trying to rip open a bag of BBQ beef jerky. Since the package was ruined I called him to sit next to me and fitted him with a makeshift leash from some rope I had in my truck {Babe}. I took him home to bring him to the pound but my dad liked lucky and said I could keep him if I wanted. At that time I stayed with my dad as we were both a little strap-ed financially. Anyway I did the responsible thing and took him to the vet to get a health inspection and to find out his breed , which I knew already but just needed a professionals opinion. I made arrangements to have him neutered. I bought all the cool stuff that I could afford and then took him to visit my . This is how he was named lucky after 101 Dalmatians. My then 7 year old said he looked like the cute little cartoon dog. Mike had a good eye as Lucky was a mix breed of American Pit Bull Terrier & Dalmatian. He suffered of separation anxiety and was usually with me. I took him over the road with me when started my career as a Trucker. He was my best buddy and he got along with everyone. Although he was a Houdini. There was not a thing that could hold him. He could get loose from anything, run lines snapped, collar buckles broke, fence boards pulled off. He escaped everything. He was also very smart. He could climb ladders, open doors that have a opening bar across them fetch, hunt rabbits. anything you wanted he could do and learn it in about 10 minutes. Sadly somebody tried to break into our house and left the door open, and he ran off never to be seen again. I have been wanting another just like him since, so I decided to research lots of breeds. I liked the Dobermans and Great Danes as well as Pit Bulls of all types. Every Sunday my wife and I go to the flea market to by all types of stuff mainly just to spend time together as the rest of the week we seem to be busy. I saw a that had a body that impressed me and was the blue color I liked. I had been reading about weight pulls for dogs and was interested. I did not particularly like the head on this as it was a little large and square for my taste and the cropped ears did not help the look. However the dogs body was unbelievably thick ,wide and stout with perfect muscle tone for pulling. Immediately I went over to look but said nothing or showed any real interest as I was unsure about his look. We went back the next week and Looked again still not appreciateing how his head appeared but it did not look so bad now, it even might be tolerable, but I still wanted that longer snouted Lucky type grin. On the third week I gave him another look and this time asked questions and found out that one of his sons is a A.D.B.A. pulling champion and also noticed the dogs very good tenperment. He was looking pretty good at this point in spite of his face. I began to do some reading on this breed called the American Bulldog. Turns out that they are working dogs used for cattle, hog<b> dogging </font></b>and hunting. My biggest aversion to hunting is having to drag a 200 lb. animal out of the woods. Now with a pulling I don't have to. I am preparing to buy one of his pups from the next litter from the same bitch. I am putting up a fence and all the good stuff to prepare for his arrival. This will be my first breed quality full blood ever so I will probably spoil him. I am very excited about this endeavor with the possibilities of pulling competitions and hunting and maybe getting a bitch to breed them. I will construct a little play ground for him complete with a tire swing and a pulling cart. Now I just have save money and wait until April. Being that this is a southern I feel obligated to give it a likewise name such as Hector, Juan, or Phillip'e. Tags: | Edit Tags
