I don't get the lotion lube thing. Unless I am in horndog overdrive and going many times in a day, and then there is something I use that is muc better than either. Lube grosses me out and I can't stand it during sex either. It just feels slimy to me. But, frankly, I've never found the need for it.

I voted lotion because it's what I use most often, but I've also used lube and nothing. When I first started masturbating, I just used my hand, but as it took a while, or I wanted it to take a while, I needed some kind of lubricant. At that age, it was whatever was on hand, which was Vaseline and later lotion. I don't know anything about the camming world, but lotion could be common because guys had the same intro I did, and it's now just what they use, or they're in relationships that don't include lube (that's a weird phrase to have typed) and lotion again fills the bill for just being there and not being suspicious. Interestingly, I was discussing this very topic with my therapist recently (she's not just a psychologist, but a sex therapist), and she said that taking time during masturbation is relatively uncommon for men. I guess jerking off is typically just that, for which lubrication doesn't seem as necessary. My own situation is a bit chicken and egg. I'm having difficulty reaching orgasm with a partner in recent years, but have always taken a long time, even "back then," at the dawn of my sex life. Did my body learn to take its time to orgasm because I took my time masturbating, or was it the other way around? Indeed, he's the sort of man to whom one should refuse nothing.

Lube isn't required for masturbation, because most usually you are moving the outer layer of skin over the firm inner shaft of the penis and as you are doing it yourself, you can feel instantly if you are about to chafe the skin. I imagine it would be much harder to use that method if you were doing it to someone else, but as I have never tried it I can't be sure, lol. I haven't had a lot of experience with women using lube on themselves, normally preferring just to use what is naturally provided, but of course with condoms it may be more necessary, and if you like to use your hand then you might well find it useful. I have tried using lotion on myself, sometimes it can be a good feeling. I did once have a girlfriend from the US who liked to use lube, and I noticed that it was very slick indeed. I wonder if the answer you are looking for is that for a guy, some friction is a good thing - maybe lube is too slick and lotion is just right?

Wow! I think this is the first time we have been dynamically opposed. I love lube. It's so much fun. Not just for me, but for when I manually stimulate my lover too. lube nowadays, lotion can dry your skin out if over used...think osmosis...higher concentrations to lower and vice versa

I think I went into this in detail on my blog. What's really best is just a dry hand until the penis decides it needs some lubricant on its own and starts dripping pre-cum. One you get tot hat point add any lubricant (of which saliva is the handiest) and I'll explode.
