BEATING MY OWN DRUM, but beating it softly

BEATING MY OWN DRUM, but beating it softly

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, 2014 TO EVERYONE...

May your holiday be joyous, but at the same time I hope you'll take a few minutes to give thanks to those men, and women who man the gates of our way of life, and hold back those millions in other parts of this world who would like to see the United States fall.

I'm a verteran myself. I was trained with 1500 other men, all volunteers in the Regular Army. I was trained as a combat infantryman in the 1st Battlegroup, 18th Infantry,at Fort Riley, Kansas...The years of my service were during the COLD WAR years with the Soviet Union.

After our training at Fort Riley, all 1500 of us volunteers, were placed on a troop ship that sailed to Hamburg, Germany. We then were stationed just outside the German City of, Mannheim. Our mission was to hold back the Soviet Army, when and if they attacked.

I spent 3 years in the Regular Army, as a combat infantryman, and then another 6 years in the Ready Reserve.

There was no shooting war going on at this time, and I never saw combat, was never in a fire-fight...

The training, discipline, and rules of living I received from the Army more than paid me back for the time out of my life, that I served.

A lot of people think I'm completely off my nut when I offer the suggestion that this country lost a great way of helping our youth ease into adulthood when we cancelled the DRAFT...

Congratulations on your time served ...I hear what you're saying.. david

Thank You David.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.
