The BookWorm Lives On!

Ok I havent been working much for the past two weeks, hence my almost constant presence on here!

Anyways during my time off I have devoured around about 10 to 12 books...

Just finished my latest book: Play Dead by Richard Montanari, very very good...I was sitting on the edge of my seat!

So anyways what genre of book do u people of blogland like to curl up with? Got a favourite author? Tell Auntie Darla?

Thanks as always,

Darla

I am not sure who my favourite author is, but my favourite book is A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. Other favourites of mine include White Noise by Don Delillo, On the Road by Jack Kerouac, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, and The Autumn of the Patriarch by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

I guarantee I'm worth it! Profile cutecoolsensual

Auntie Darla!

I have a pile of about 6 or 7 books still to go, some are more non fiction than other...for example I've got a book by Danny Wallace to read about him starting a mini cult by placing an ad in a paper simply saying JOIN ME!

I cant seem to stop myself reading lately, I need some real life action in my life but I just cant afford anything!!

Well darla my sexy friend who fantasizes about me in my own world,

I can see you and I share a bit of reading pleasure. I put away 10 book myself.

Authors - Robert Jordan, Ayn Rand, James Rollins, Sergeanne Golon, Jacqueline Carey, David Eddings, Tom Clancy, Robin Hobb, Tanya Huff, Mercedes lackey, Katherine Kurtz, Seneca, Aldous Huxley, Anne Rice, Terry Goodkind, James Clemens, Sara Douglass, Elizabeth Haydon, Kristen Britain, John Duns Scotus, Stephanie Meyer

I have 4000 books so really I could name dozens of authors but I like these the most I think.

I am only a stranger the first time...

I like newspapers and magazines better than books. After reading all the news, sports, editorials, ect., I like to look at penthouse, playboy and hustler. What more can I say!!!

Personally, I struggle to read books as I have little patience in reading before wanting to close the book lol!

But from what I have read I tended to read autobiographies of people who I consider as being inspiring.

I like gordon ramsey as he worked his butt to get to where he is. Lance Armstrong for his 7 tour de france wins despite being diagnosed with testicular cancer and the tragic Jane Tomlinson who did many near impossible tasks to raise money for cancer research before succumbing to the disease herself. Truly inspirational. None of this footballers of celebrity crap!

Heck Darla, you must have plenty of time on your hands!
x

I tend to read non-fiction rather than fiction...probably due to that old saying that "truth is stranger than fiction". One of my past favourite fictions was The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, which is a re-telling of the Arthurian legend through the eyes of the women of Camelot, particularly the character Morgaine.

At the moment I'm thumbing through Jesus After the Cricifixion by the late Graham Simmans. I'm not religious, just that the subject does intrigue me a bit. Based on his investigations, the author contends that J.C. did in fact live on in Egypt, and then moved to southern France with his wife (in Rennes-Le-Chateau, which I think is mentioned in The Da Vinci Code). It goes on to argue that it was understandable he would settle in the Narbonne area of France, partly because it was heavily settled by Jewish and Gnostic groups and was safely outside of the reach of the Roman Empire's cultural dictatorship.

So yeah, I do like to occasionally dig here and there in history . But if a friend or contact recommends me a fiction title to read, I'll certainly look at it.

{=}Kisses, darling Auntie Darla {=}

I feel maybe my books are a little trashy and mainstream for u but if I was to recommend anything I would have to say Bad Men by John Connolly!

Oh I don't mind the odd trashy book, especially the "hot and sweaties" as I call them . With those ones, I could just graft "Darla" on to the main character and pretend, say, that you were the one cornering me in an elevator or whatever instead of the main vixen .

Thanks for the recommendation, will look it up.

Kisses and hugs and whatever else floats your 'boat'

xxx V.

Ah well, in that case I'll graft you on to the strangler or mysterious vixen within the thriller story concerned

xxx Have fun,
