Playlist 8.31.11 - "They're Red Hot"


IN honour of the new album release "I'm With You" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (and tenth studio album of their wild, crazy and funky career) I thought I would dedicate this playlist to this momentous occasion.*

Their last album named "Stadium Arcadium" was released in 2005 so the anticipation of this album has been building since word came out new material was being worked on. In those six years since Stadium guitarist John Frusciante has left the band again (he left in 1992 amidst being unhappy in the band and a drug habit spiraling out of control until he sought help in late 1996 and rejoined the band in 1997 and was the guitarist on the 1999 comeback album "Californication", 2002's "By The Way", 1991's "Blood Sugar Sex Magic and 1990's "Mother's Milk") to focus on solo pursuits (all reports indicate all band members are close friends and speak often). Enter new guitar player Josh Klinghoffer, a close friend of John Frusciante to replace some big shoes. (and so far everything I have read on BaceFook the general consensus about "I'm With You" has been positive but some hardcore fans feel like they've either "sold out", "I want John back" or flat out hate the album because "it isn't funky")

* Should be noted that the RHCP's are one of my favourite bands

Each album will be represented in this playlist. I also thought I would try and show the depth of the Peppers work from each disc right from the very beginnings (the "punk funk" sound they were most known for) up to the newest album.

I should have a review of the newest album up some time soon. In the meanwhile, search out the tracks on YT if you aren't familiar. Give them a listen and let me know. As always you may have some new favourite songs!

 I saw you left a comment about this album on one of my posts too. I am behind in all my comments! LOL But to answer your question - I LOVE the new album. I have always loved the Chili Peppers!

Stadium Arcadium is one of my all-time fav albums
