Been Hit with the Crazy Stick

In my profile I stated that I used to have a wild streak a mile wide and that I thought that it was returning. Nope, no major clubbing going on, wild nights of passion with 20 year olds, no famous musicians in my future....Just a lifestyle of crazy.

I am beginning to understand family. It is not just blood relatives, it incorporates people you meet as well. For what ever reason, they touch your lives in such a way that life is not the same. They need you just as you need them.

The reason I am finally understanding this... is that in my black and white view of the world....I have had preconceived notions of protecting and pleasing just my family. Friends were incorporated, but on the outside of the wall, so that there was a delineating barrier to safe guard family.

That preconceived notion was blown this past week. Life as I know it will never be the same. People I barely knew not only entrusted me with their family secrets, but their life as well. I was awe struck. Me. This rarely happens. I have been involved in large business ventures, small Mom-n-Pop establishments, but never have I experienced such openness from a family. What I walk away with is that love and life are never fully learned. I will continue to experience and grow as long as I am open to the information as it is given.

So, for those of you out there...living in what would be considered an alternative family....share your experiences...I would be so happy to understand more of this very open and candid environment. If, you need to keep it private, just email me...I would still love to know and understand more. Thanks friends.

I'm Just Sayin'--Seriously?

The other side of the coin for me is that I trust too easily and often wind up getting burned by people I thought I could count on.

Grace, please read your email. My response was long and I felt it was better to write you. I'm looking forward to your reply.

Hugs,
John

Having a “private blog” page is a good way for folks to share things with you they don’t want to post, and perhaps can’t email due to being standard members. It is the same as any other blog, except you select wanting to approve the comments before they are posted, and you never do, so only you and the poster can see them. Many folks have them, and sticky note them to the top of their blog.

I am not especially close to my "real" family -- the people whose blood I was born with. I am also not the type of person who has a lot of friends. I tend to have a few close friends who generally become lifelong friends. Those friends are the people I truly consider my family. I care about my relatives and all that, but most of them have made no effort to get to know me except on a very superficial level.

I guess that is truly what I meant.... My family is all but gone, they were older...so, adopting outside people as family is an interesting and wonderful concept. They have been so open with me, it is hard to believe that they have not been in my life always. Yes and I too have very few close friends.

I got hit with the crazy stick a long time ago. I'm still pulling out the splinters.
I can't help you on the last part of your post, but i hope others can and will.

Ahhh I thank you....crazy attracts crazy now doesn't it? You my friend are a lot closer to the mark than you may consider, given that you are so willing to give pick me up's to strange women at very dark times in their life...sometimes that is better than family...because of the very special nature of the gift.
