 Firstly - why is it important to you that someone who is working on a thesis, or being paid with grants of your tax dollars is steadily trying to put everyone into a neatly labelled box that 'defines' you? Isn't part of the battle with 'free will' the ability to choose to rise above and over the labels that people put down for Their Own Comfort?

Personally I'd much prefer to be labelled with a tag that said .. transitioning ... and let everyone wonder just what it meant. Because really, I do think life, living and doing it the best way possible is simply a chain of transitions.

labels are as limited and limiting as the the people who run to apply them to every facet of their life.

Hmm... but in the LGBT community, the transitioning label would mean I am becoming female and it would be a damned shame to switch genders just to become a lesbian. Plus, women can be real bitches to each other. I'm glad I'm a man. Though, I would enjoy the tits. Curling up with a pair of those would be better than an afternoon with beer and a TV. But I digress.

As a lover of nature I hate when I admire a beautiful tree and say to my companion, "look!" Only to have them reply, "that is a fine instance of the Loblolly Pine." Takes the fun right out of it.

But as a writer I find labels very useful, and categorizing helps me treat people and things with precise diplomacy. So it would be great if a bisexual partner could self-describe so that I would know to avoid them from the get-go if necessary.
