NO THANKSGIVING HERE
NO THANKSGIVING HERE Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in a few countries. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in America. Thanksgiving Day has already taken place in Canada. Two Caribbean countries, Grenada and Saint Lucia, and the African country of Liberia, founded to home freed black slaves from America, also have their own Thanksgiving Day. There are no Thanksgiving celebrations here in Britain. The only people celebrating Thanksgiving here are Americans living in Britain and Brits lucky enough to be invited to the Thanksgiving meal at the American embassy in London. The closest we get to Thanksgiving is the Harvest Festival, which traditionally took place after harvest and involved eating lots of harvested food. Harvest Festival nowadays is largely confined to churches and involves singing hymns not eating roast turkey. Here, roast turkey is a very popular Christmas meal. Of all celebrations here, Christmas is the most important to me, followed by birthday celebrations. I do not celebrate Easter but I very much enjoy that the Easter weekend is a very long weekend with two public holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday. For that reason alone, I am pleased Jesus was crucified and resurrected either side of the weekend! Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? If so, how do you celebrate Thanksgiving? What celebration is the most important to you? To all my American friends, I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. And I wish all my Canadian friends a very belated Happy Thanksgiving. Below are two fully-naked half-turkeys in flagrante delicto! |

And not to be forgotten, I wish any Grenadian, Saint Lucian and Liberian members a very Happy Thanksgiving. I don’t think I have friends from these three countries!

Yes, I remember going to the yearly Harvest Festival in my local church. Baskets of food were always in abundance.

You know I didn't know that ya'll didn't celebrate Thanksgiving until Citizen mentioned it to me the other day. What a shame it's my favorite Holiday of all. Thank you for the Happy Thanksgiving wishes.. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? Yep we sure do. If so, how do you celebrate Thanksgiving? I make a Turkey and all the trimmings as a matter of fact I just got finished making my deviled eggs. I will be making my Pumpkin Pie in a bit here. And then tomorrow all the other foods will be made for our dinner. It's just the two of us this year. We were invited to my daughters but other family members aren't vaccinated and we can't risk hubbies heath. I am disappointed as I was looking forward to someone cooking for me for a change. What celebration is the most important to you? That's a great question and any Holiday Celebration where we can be with family is the most important to me.. I hope you enjoy a wonderful Hump Day my friend..

Harvest Festival sounds a lot like the origin of Thanksgiving. For me, traditionally Thanksgiving was for traveling to see far flung family, whereas Christmas was spent at home. (Of course this all changed with Covid.) Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy HNW. yes, we have already celebrated Thanksgiving...we usually have turkey then we make turkey soup with the leftovers. I guess you could assume that Christmas would be the most important celebration around this household! (the Mrs birthday is the same day!

Thanksgiving and Christmas and ANY celebration where the whole family can get together, is always a treat. Of course, Christmas is the one steeped in tradition and a more serious underlying theme but they're all good — in their own way. And happy thanksgiving to you! We enjoy thanksgiving as a family. Sometimes it’s a reunion with lots of family (20+). Sometimes it’s just the 4 of us. It’s a day to just be together, thankful for each other. People go all out here in the states I guess. When I was younger, it was at grandmas house. Lots and lots of food and people. Everyone is dead now, so it’s simpler. I miss it though. Pecan pie. Yum. We are blessed. And I’m thankful for that. This year, I’m home alone. Has never happened before. Not sure what to do. Interesting. Have a great day! 💋 Staci

You need to observe all the holidays of the world.. Then you could have choice of fine meals more often.. Thanks giving here is very tradition, turkey with all the fixings, plenty of desserts, pies ans so forth.. Then a relaxing afternoon to one's enjoyment.. I think I should celebrate my birthdays more so than others, I think there will be fewer of them!!!! Stop by at lonlyforlove2 also see Lunch with Lonly , we get snow tomorrow Check my blog on New Community, "A photo of my big Pecker" also, " My Sunday afternoon with the kids'

I haven’t done anything special for Thanksgiving in a few years. My sister has always been kind enough to take me in at Christmas so I don’t really expect it at Thanksgiving as well. I’ve hosted a few ‘Friendsgiving’s throughout the years, but it is an awful lot of work for what is not really my favorite kind of food!

(And hope have the "clapping Smiley" right?!) I still find it strange that your Xmas is in the summer and mine is in the winter. Xmas here is celebrated with cold snow, I guess your Xmas cards are Santa Claus sunbathing!
