Garth is coming to town.I can't miss this the women are going to go wild.

He says he has friends in low places.

But it seems Garth Brooks also has friends at the Calgary Stampede.

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth announced Thursday the country superstar is coming to town for its 100th anniversary year.

Brooks, 50, said to be the top selling solo artist of the 20th century, will hit the stage at the Scotiabank Saddledome July 12.

The Stampede is “absolutely thrilled” to have Brooks as a guest to its centennial birthday, said publicity manager Jennifer Booth.

“We have always had a love affair with country music and he has always been on our wish list,” she said.

“It’s a wish come true.”

Paul Rosenberg, vice-president programming with the Calgary Stampede, agreed.

“Garth is a country music legend; to have him perform at the Centennial Calgary Stampede is incredible,” he said.

And it won’t be Brooks’ first time to Calgary.

The music legend made a covert, unadvertised appearance at the Palomino in 2008 while in the city for a charity function.

Dressed in jeans and a<b> denim </font></b>shirt, Brooks performed a solo, acoustic show to thrilled patrons and staff at the bar.

“He is a fantastic entertainer,” said booking agent Spencer Brown.

“He is obviously very humble, he would look you in the eye and shake your hand and remember the staff,” he said.

A big Brooks fan himself, Brown said he’s happy the Stampede will host the legend.

“He took traditional country music and made it successful,” he said.

As for whether he will be invited back this time around, Brown said, “we’ll see.”

“If I can get him to duck in for a song or two,” he said.

Brooks has six albums topping the 10 million mark, with 100 million albums sold and dozens of awards.

I can't miss this so my summer vacation is delayed.

Yes he did quit for a while. I did not know it was for that reason Tho.

I thought it was to patch his family back together.

 I really like country/western music ,,but Garth is NOT one of my favortiets..
