Sex or love?

Sex or love? Many people would say they want both sex and love from a partner. That makes sense to me. But is the sex or the relationship a higher priority? An old joke is that men give love to get sex and women give sex to get love. Not sure if that is true, but men usually put a strong emphasis on sexual activity and women seem to highlight the desire for a strong relationship with love and affection. My guess is biology is to blame. Men wanting to spread their semen, women wanting to have a bond to raise the that come with procreation. We are driven by hormones, natural selection and biology whether we want to be, or not. Usually love enhances the sex, and sex enhances the love.... But what is the priority of each? With different partners the focus can change. Sex or love, or both? Of course some get no sex and no love, while others seem to have an oversupply of both. Like is not fair and the assets are unevenly distributed. |
