The Single Most Important Thing About Swinging  The single most important thing about being a part of the swing lifestyle is putting your relationship above all else. You have to be sure that you are HAPPY & SECURE in your relationship before you even begin to consider being a part of the lifestyle. I say this because diving head first into the lifestyle without first having that secure bond as a couple, can be a huge risk to your relationship. You both have to be on the same page when it comes to spicing up your sex life by entering into the lifestyle. The BEST way to be in sync with one another is by COMMUNICATION. Talk to each other. Have an open and honest discussion with each other about the lifestyle. What is your motivation? - Why do you want to be a part of the lifestyle? What are your expectations as a couple? - Essentially, not having any expectations about the lifestyle will lead to no disappointments, but having expectations as far as what it should do for your relationship is a smart choice. What are your rules? - Your boundaries. What is okay and what is not okay. Very important to know before you attend your first event. Your rules are for your relationship and it is what you and your partner are comfortable with. They are not set in stone, and often will evolve with your time in the lifestyle. What will satisfy you as a couple? -What will you be looking for in the lifestyle? Other couples? A single female? Single male? How will you swing? -This is how far you are willing to go with others in the lifestyle. Are you into just soft swap? Which is play with no sexual penetration. Full swap? Which is having sex with the other persons partner. Are you okay with same room sex only or are you okay with separate rooms etc? How will you behave once you are in a swinging situation? -Usually one couple will take the lead, but it is nice to discuss this before hand so you avoid an awkward situation. How will you deal with it if something goes badly? -You hope it doesn't, but it has been known to happen, so it is always good to be prepared. Have a safe word or gesture to let your partner know that you are not comfortable etc. How will you handle it if there is a misunderstanding? -Again, better to be prepared. This situation is less likely to occur the more prepared and the more discussion you have had with your spouse/partner. ~When NOT to be a part of the lifestyle~ Aside from not starting out with an open, honest, trusting relationship, there are a few other areas of concern that would let you know that you are not ready or should not be a part of the lifestyle. Jealousy -That is probably the number one reason to not get involved in the lifestyle IMO. If you or your spouse has issues with that little green monster than it is best NOT to even be a part of the lifestyle. Difficulty Communicating -If you can't sit down and have those difficult conversations with one another, then there is no way you are capable of being a part of the lifestyle. Religion -If you are deeply religious, then the lifestyle probably is not going to fit into your values. Morals -If you have moral hang ups about sex then the lifestyle is not for you. The lifestyle relies heavily on the healthy relationships of others. When you enter into it with full knowledge and acceptance, not only of your own relationship, but that of others, then it makes it that much more enjoyable and fun. I hope this has helped.
