Best Things on the Internet (or Not Just for Porn Anymore)

Looking back over my blogs of the last couple of days, they seem to have found their way to a dark place. I wanted to lighten things up with the best things that I've found on the Internet.

First on the list must be youtube and the wide varieties of videos it contains. I've had access to any number of music videos (I'm a music video junkie from childhood. My vintage shows.) and a variety of artists who never made it onto my music stations. Great artists became my favorites, and there was wonderful humor there, too. I'll always enjoy Simon's Cat.

Next would be the phenomenon that is the meme. I first encountered that with the icanhazcheezburger site. A great friend introduced me to it, and I have loved memes ever since. I even volunteered captions for some of the memes they had online. And the baby ones can be almost as funny.

Being able to look up any number of things was the next thing that the Internet offered. At your fingertips are metric tonnes of information or misinformation, all waiting for your thirsty mind. Taken with a grain of salt, the Internet feeds the thirst without excessive dehydration. In the very least, it encourages further examination of a topic. I enjoy that.

Netflix is next on my list of wonderful things the Internet has to offer. I will admit that it has become an addiction, but I have encountered a number of wonderful and equally horrible cinematic offerings there. It provided entertainment, inspired introspection, or simply filled a void in my life. I know it is a drain on my otherwise vivid life (of blogging... wow), but I enjoy it. Guilty pleasure.

Blogging is yet another wonderful aspect of the Web. Though I've complained any number of times, scratched my head at what others write, and felt that euthanasia should not be limited to the willing, I have enjoyed the blogs here. My favorite is by another blogger and includes cartoons. I LOVE the cartoons, but his perspective is equally enjoyable. Writing, reading and responding to blogs is another wonder of the Internet.

And of course, there's the porn. No matter what depraved interest you have (though clicking on certain topics will get you arrested or eyed by federal agents), you can find it on the Internet. Still pictures. Amateur videos. Professional work. And combinations of different actions and people are all just a click away. Just don't let them fill your life the way that Netflix fills mine. Netflix makes you seem sad enough. Porn for hours or days at a time gets pathetic.

The Internet: It's not just for porn anymore.

You mean there are other things out there besides porn or dating sites. Say it ain't so. As a man, I'm surprised you didn't mention all the wonderful deals you can get online from a variety of merchants. You are doing a disservice to your sisters by not mentioning that. Maybe next time. And its not euthanasia if the other party does not consent, its just murder. Hope you can detect my tongue in check attitude.

A specist argument. Why can someone put down an animal that is inconvenient and not people? Life would be so much more interesting.
