Protecting yourself against fraud

One of the sad realities of this and other online dating sites is the
large number of scammers who will try to swindle you out of money for something completely bogus. Here is what most scammers do so you can recognize them:

1. Most scammers use bogus or stolen photos in creating the profile. The person you are really dealing with via emails and possibly telephone text messages as well doesn't look anything remotely like the photos.
2. An imposter pretending to be your date or relationship sends out the email messages and possibly texts your cell phone as well.
3. Many scammers will direct you to an online website where you must make an online credit purchase before you can actually see or meet the
person you are supposedly getting involved with. THIS IS A HUGE RED FLAG . Very often there will be hidden commitments for future charges, not just the ones that were made obvious. They will often lie about the charges that will actually be placed on your credit card.
4. Many scammers will direct you to send CASH via Western Union to some place in a foreign country before you can actually see or meet the person you are supposedly getting involved with. THIS IS ANOTHER HUGE RED FLAG.
5. You are told that there is no way you can actually talk to the person who is sending you text messages on your cell phone. They will always make up some lie as to why. THIS IS ANOTHER HUGE RED FLAG. You are dealing with an imposter who is pretending to be someone he is not.
It sometimes happens that they will let you talk to someone on the phone but it's still an imposter.
6. Most scammers will hotlist you or otherwise try to draw your attention to them. Any time you are hotlisted you need to be alert to the possibility of something completely bogus.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE VERY COMMON TYPES OF FRAUDS:

1. Your date or relationship is in a foreign country. A passport and/or visa and/or plane ticket is necessary to bring them to the USA. They usually want you to send the money via Western Union or money Gram. The crooks will just pocket the money. You won't see your love interest at all.
2. A fuckbuddy or other relationship is at a local hotel or visiting a friend in your home town. In order to see this person you have to go online and make some type of transaction that asks for your credit card number. An excellent setup for fraud! The crooks will just take your money and you won't see your fuckbuddy.
3. Sex party swindlers. You have dealings with an organization that claims to schedule sex parties on a regular basis. You are told you must undergo and pass a screening process before you can participate.
In most cases they want you to join XXXBlackbook* which imposes a monthly charge on your credit card. After you sign up they tell you that you must also send $300 or $400 via Western Union to a foreign address. The crooks will often give you bogus information concerning when and where sex parties are being held. They will simply take your money and you won't get any sex.

*Men who sign up for XXXBlackbook will get numerous emails and flirts from out-of-town or out-of-state female beauties, many of which are nothing but setups for outright fraud. Scammers frequently use XXXBlackbook for the purpose of conducting the types of fraud mentioned
in 1. and 2. above. This is in addition to the sex party frauds where
they usually want you to join XXXBlackbook and to send money overseas to pay for sex party expenses in the USA. XXXBlackbook may not be ripping you off, but many unscrupulous outfits using their services clearly are. Another problem is that XXXBlackbook tends to be very persistent once they get your credit card number. You may get stuck with membership fees for a service you find to be a complete waste of money.

As much as possible these crooks try to operate in countries with very lax enforcement of laws against fraud. This is why most of these unscrupulous outfits have foreign connections. Very often these foreign connections will be concealed at first. Sometimes they will pretend to be operating an overseas charity to help disaster victims. Sometimes they will pretend to operate a foreign orphanage for . Very often your phony date or relationship will tell some family history story to explain the foreign connections. It's all a pack of lies.

The actual crime of fraud takes place where the money is picked up, not where the victim of fraud lives. This is why they often want you to send money overseas.

The crooks motivate you to send money by getting you to think that someone is very strongly attracted to you or that you can get sex from someone very quickly. They have strategies aimed at both the long-term relationship seekers and the quick sex seekers.

One thing you will see fairly often with scammers is the pronoun I
spelled i. This usually means you are dealing with someone from a foreign country. The scammers could well lie about where they are emailing or texting from. Sometimes you will get emails or texts at very strange hours which suggests a far away time zone on another continent. In many cases they are in fact emailing or texting from another continent.

It is good to keep writing here for awhile. Do not give out your phone number to fast. Never send money to anybody do not know. Is other signs but can not remember. I think some people is lonely or desperate they do not think straight.

Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth.

If only animals had the ability to know when to keep away from us humans they would be better off.
