Sometimes life really sucks.

I found out last night that a friend I met on this website passed away a while ago. We had met just after each of us had suffered the loss of a spouse and spent lots of time helping each other through the various emotions we each felt. She had also been dealing with a chronic acute pain issue and had been taking medication to deal with it. She had really been a great source of support and comfort for me, and I had thought I was helping her. It turns out the pain and the depression became too much for her and she stopped fighting. I will miss her, and our long conversations. If you are having problems coping with issues please talk to someone, be it a friend, family, or even strangers who have suffered a similar loss. I wish I had done more.

All I can do is hope that I helped. But it is still hard not to feel guilty when I am still here and she isn't. Thank you for your words though, it does help.

 I'm sorry for your loss, in both circumstances. I lost my mother to an overdose in 2013, none of us really know if she had done it intentionally or not. Sleeping pills and pain medication were never a good thing for her.
