why why why no EI

I find it TOTALLY CRAZY that everywhere in Alberta except for Edmonton gets an increase of EI.

That is the government telling us that Edmontonians are less stressed or less important. Because we are unemployed.

If EI is increased for everyone else then WHY not Edmontonians? The reason given is that the un-employment rate in Edmonton is less than the rest of Alberta.

Tell that to anyone not working. I call BULL SH!T on that.

What say others.

Albertine's have just had a pretty good run. I was there in 82 so I do have some idea of what is happening.

The fact that most people there have had incomes well above what they were worth should be a point of joy. The fact that it is now back to reality sobering but you must realize the unemployment rate in Alberta is not really that high.

People are return to where ever it is they came from to take advantage of the boom.

Yes there will be an adjustment to be made.

Did you know that oil production is only 3% of our GDP?

There you go
That's all and none of it tragic.

Unemployment is still unemployment. I have been out of work for a long time and little or nothing out there for warehouse work. It IS an employers market and they can pick and choose.

That only leaves a couple of options then. Either broaden the type of work you are looking for or broaden the area you are looking in.
The Alberta unemployment rate is 7.9% I think? That's a bit high but not all that bad considering. BC's is 6.6% and it is supposedly a boom time there.
