Cup Sizes
Cup Sizes I think I read somewhere (and now can't remember where) that the average size bra cup purchased in America is a double D. It used to be a C, but has grown rather rapidly and is now a double D. I found that hard to believe. Yesterday, while at a layover in Phoenix, I spent some time people watching, and I'm thinking that I either mis-read the article or the author made a mistake. There is no way the average size cup in the Phoenix airport was anywhere near a Double D. To have an average of DD, there essentially has to be as many larger than DD as smaller than DD, or enough woman that are way bigger than DD that they compensate for the number of smaller. (There is a difference between average and median, but I suspect they are pretty similar in this case.) But, I would not be surprised if the number of women with DD cups I saw exceeded the number of women with any other size cup. There were a lot of well endowed women walking in front of me as I sat there waiting. So, I'm guessing that the information that led to the report was that the sales of bras with DD cups has overtaken the sales of bras with C cups. It's not about an average or a mean size, but simply the size with the most sales. That I can believe. The strangest thing I saw was the rather large elderly woman dressed in footsie pajamas with a santa claus print. No teddy bear though. |
