My numbers up!!..how about yours?

Hi there,thanks for dropping in.

Have you ever stopped to think of how much our lives revolve around numbers?

Everywhere we use numbers,we actually depend on them for alot of things.

Have you ever noticed to how important the numbers 8 & 9 are in our everyday lives, among others of course.

Think about it....

Typically our day is split in three shifts of 8.
8 hours of sleep,8 hours of work,& 8 hours of playtime/leisure.

If you look at your TV programme schedule more closely, you will notice that on almost every station listed, there is a programme starting at 8.00pm.On most stations the watershed for censored programming is either 8.00pm or 9.00pm

Work generally starts at 9.00am & finishes 8 hours later at 5.00pm

If you have a drivers licence for a car,you can carry up to a maximum of 8 passangers before the class of licence changes to a public service coach/bus licence. For 9 passengers or more, the vehicle is classed as a bus,or mini-bus.

The average capacity of a normal sized lift is 8/9 persons.

Resturant peak trading hours are typically between the hours of 8 & 9.So if your booking between these times, you'd better book earlier than if it were outside theses hours

My old albums on vinyl were typically 8 tracked,as were the old 8 track tapes we all used to play, once in a long time ago.

Have you ever wondered why photo films are in 24 & 36 format?I don't really know the answer to that, but i notice that they are both multiples of 8.Is there some significance to this?

The figure of 8 is often reffered to as a guide to the ideal shape for a woman's figure.Marilyn Monroe is often taken as the typically ideal healthy shape of a woman.Hers of course being an hourglass figure of 8.

Other numbers are used in many ways for convenience purposes. For example...

I would imagine that beer is normally sold in packs of six, because they are easier to carry. Not too heavy to carry,& just the right amount for people to be able to share some & get typsy doing so.(I could be wrong in my assumption of course)

Whenever we think of PIN codes or passwords,we naturally assume to use numbers. Most codes will be either 4 or 6 numbers long. Why is this?My theory is that any less than four is too easy to decipher, any more than six is too hard to remember.Again maybe i'm wrong, but that is just my theory.

Have you ever noticed that it's easier to remember that have more "Curved" numbers like 0,3,6,8,& 9 in them?Rather than 1,2,4,5,& 7?I know that there is some scientific evidence to prove this, but at the time of writing this,I can't remember where i remember it from.Try it for your self,& see if it's true.I think it has something to do with the straight edges & the curved contours of the letters. The curved numbers are more favorable to the eye.

Every day we are surrounded by numbers,we take them for granted & don't really think about them that much. There is a mathematical equasion for everything that exists on this planet. The way we walk, talk, interact. The things we see & do,everything that happens around us,there is an equasion for.Velocity, size, quantity, volume, mass, our very existance revolves around numbers. In everyday life we are just a number,be it our social security numbers, our work numbers,& even membership of this site...all numbers!!

It's amazing what you think of in the middle of the night, when you can't sleep huh?..lol

What do you think?
