What's In Your Box?
What's In Your Box? A "famous" Forest once said, "Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." So if you were to put things in your life box that represented the significant or important things or events in your life what would it contain? They don't have to be actual items that you can get your hands on, in fact they should be the things you would want to put in there if you happened to have them or could just be items that you would like to use to represent an event, feeling or memory. I would put in a twig to represent all the trees I climbed as a and maybe just because I like trees too. There would be a cigar butt for the time I tried to light it on the side of the trash burning barrel and decided smoking was yucky, I was in the 2nd grade I think, though it could have been in the first grade. I would put in a clump of yellow snow for when I used to walk home from school in the winter when we lived at the house with the burn barrel. I sometimes stopped on the dead end street where my parents until recently had a home which is the street before the street with the burn barrel house, and made yellow snow. The snow banks were high and I would climb up over the top and down the other side so people couldn't see what I was doing from the street, but the people living in the houses could have seen me if they looked out the windows. What can I say... I had to go... It was such a relief... I would put in a piece of electric fence... without the electric... to remind me that "brook" water and electricity make a very enlightening experience. A clump of dirt to remember the times running about the trailer park and surrounding woods in 3rd and 4th grade and the dirt clod wars. A picture of a flashing neon sign for a "Best Western" hotel, to remember the first night I spent in Colorado Springs at the trailer park we moved to when I finished the 4th grade in the Summer of 72. I spent a good deal of time setting on my bed looking out the window that night watching that sign flash. Lots of memories from CO. A compass to remember a good friend that I used to go hunting with many years ago. I never got lost... really... I didn't.. maybe a little turned around but not lost... A movie ticket stub... to remember when I was first getting to know my one time wife. She liked going to the movies. A couple of carved rosewood animal figurines that I bought for my wife... one for each of our two when they were born. The ring I gave to my wife after our was born. It had four birthstones on it. Two larger ones for my wife, Emerald, and I, Zircon, setting together and Two smaller ones for the two Peridot and Sapphire one on each side of the larger ones forming a diamond shape. I do believe she sold it along with all the gold jewelry I had given her. She then went out with her girlfriend and partied till it was gone. Hitting the bars and buying their Drugs and Alcohol. They had a good time for a while. Something yellow... because I like yellow an awful lot... probably lots of yellow things. I guess I'm sentimental. I like all my pictures for the memories even if they didn't come out very well. So what's in your life box" Vive La Difference |
