Take An Interest In My Life. A Poem

Is it too much to ask
Someone to take an interest
In my hobby
That could become
My occupation
If I receive
Enough encouragement?

It was a simple request
Could he please read
Some of my poems
Tell me what he thinks?
I have known him
For over three years
And never made any demands.
Never cost him a penny
Made myself available
As I was seeking something
I was reawakened after
Many years of<b> celibacy
</font></b>And he was game to play.

Am I changing the rules?
I have other options now
I have come to the conclusion
I want more
Than just a fuck buddy
For as a friend
I have never benefitted.
He has barely taken notice
Of the rest of my life
Other than inquiring
About my health.
With the unasked question
How it would affect
My wanting sex
And my sex drive.

It's probably a tired argument
I can't even defend.
How after all this time
He could look at me differently
Show me some respect.
Take an interest in my life
Outside of the bedroom.
