The Novice And The Jaded Soul

You think you are so smart
With your sarcastic remarks.
You think you veil it well
But I and others can tell
That you are not
The nicest of fellows.

You are mean
It peaks through
We see it
We can imagine you
Almost thrilled
When you get to
Crush a naive soul.
Because you are what?
So knowledgeable
Holier than thou?
Wanting company
In your cynicism
And jaded views?

Ah to be the novice
To come to understand
Through their own
Trial and error
Not to be beleaguered
By those who have
Ulterior motives.

But fostered
By kind and gentle souls
Whose wisdom
Was accrued
By pain and loss.
Who share their stories
In the hopes to avoid
That for another
Not to gloat
That someone has
Yet to learn.
