Why Can't This Be Love?

Imagine yourself going through the motions of your typical everyday life. You find yourself in a crowded place. You look up and see a beautiful stranger across the room. Your heart skips a beat. You feel the flutter of the butterflies dancing in your stomach. Everyone else fades into the background until it is only you and your beautiful stranger in the room. You are drawn to them like a moth to a flame. You start to make your way through the invisible crowd. You need to meet this person, talk to them, touch them, any interaction will do. You need it like oxygen because you know in your heart that you have found your soul mate. The one. The love of your life.

And it was love at first sight...

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Love at first sight. A dream come true for any hopeless romantic. But is it real? Is it really love? Or is it simply a fairy tale?

Sadly, I do not believe in love at first sight. I do believe in lust at first sight. Perhaps it is actually infatuation at first sight.

Maybe I am in denial...

The first time I saw my Joey's picture, I was intrigued. I knew I had to talk to him. Get to know him. Meet him. Deep down, I knew I was going to have feelings for him. But I wasn't in love with him from the word go.

There is that moment you realize you found someone special. "The click." But that usually happens after you talk to someone. I felt the click during the first conversation I ever had with Joey.

I also believe that you can fall in love in a moment. And that moment can happen at any time after you meet someone. They say or do something and you fall head over heels in love with them.

Joey got to have that moment the first time we met and all I did was take off my shoes. I experienced the moment the second time we saw each other when I woke up in his arms. It was the most intense rush of emotions I ever felt in my life.

It was beautiful, raw, and pure. I felt an overwhelming desire to spend every possible moment I could with him. I knew that I had found my soul mate and the true love of my life.

    Quoting xacandxin:
Both: We are both big believers, but that's because of how we met. That's a story we won't share in a public forum, because it makes us identifiable to too many people. I've actually incorporated our story in speeches that I've given. I wrote our entire wedding ceremony and much of the ceremony was based around her story, my story, and how in the blink of an eye it became our story.
If you'd like to know, just contact us privately. It's not that we won't tell it to our friends on here, we just won't post it to the world, lol.

Xac: It's not like we fell in love instantly. We are both way too cerebral to allow ourselves to believe in that. It's more like we both prayed/wished for each other very specifically, and when we met each of us knew instantly that our wish was granted - we knew it was love instantly, but it was like we also knew we had to wait for it to all naturally unfold.

It didn't take long for us to profess our feelings to one another, and we both dragged our feet as long as we could stand out of fear of being wrong, getting too intense too fast, and ruining things. However, it didn't take long for us to overcome this, because what was happening was extremely obvious to all who could see. I have a family member who has always made a habit of meeting my girlfriends and then asking me - not rudely, but "curiously" - what it was that drew me to her. This was a remarkably effective maneuver, because often I would find myself without an easy answer to this question, and the girl would disappear from the picture soon afterward.

When this woman met Xin, I waited patiently for her to ask, certain that this time I was going to blow her mind. For the first time EVER, she never asked. I was upset by this initially, certain that she had chosen the wrong girl to snub from this regular pastime of hers. When I approached to figure out how in the hell she - one of the most perceptive members of my family - could possibly miss what I felt was so obvious, she caught me off guard with a big smile and a huge huge.

Taken back a little bit, I looked at her with a confused look. "I am SO happy for you!" she said. Still somewhat stupefied, I muttered "Huh?" and she went on to explain that she didn't have any questions for me because she had watched the way I looked at her all night, and she could tell I "had it bad", lol.
Xac: Lol, end of second to last paragraph was supposed to read "a huge hug"

I would love to hear your love story sometime, if you would be willing to send it.

Maybe I am a hopeless romantic in certain ways. Joey and I had quite the beginning ourselves.

It's happened to all of us...but the only questions are...is it reciprocated? and...will it last? Enjoy the present!

We are very much in love with each other. I have no desire to be with anyone else, ever. I am confident that we are going to be together until death do us part.
