Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The phrase The luck of the Irish is actually meant to be offensive. It's as if to say...only by sheer luck, as opposed to brains, could those fools succeed.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than be talented. And here I thought it was because of all those sweet Irish lasses..... lucky Irish lads.

Its funny who different saying and traditions come about.

The salute that many countries have in their armed forces arose because that action is the same action as how knights would raise their visor to show thier face and show they were friend not foe.

One more apropos to today would be the whole "Bottoms up and here's looking at you" is said to have originated as a warning to when two opposing sides would settle something over drinks - they were basically saying lets drink (raise the bottom of the glass but I am watching you dont try anything)

Course when i say bottoms up you know damn well what i mean lol

Fucking LOVE origins baby. Especially alcohol related (ha!) Here's one...the original purpose of a "groomsmen" in a wedding was to guard the bride to keep another guy from stealing her away from her intended. Ahhh those were the days huh?
