The Spark in a Message

Maybe it's something you feel often, or maybe not at all. Maybe it's something that you revere as a rare and precious thing that comes out of nowhere, or something that you pursue endlessly time and again.

It's not something I expected to find.

It's something that makes your heart race. It's an excitement that has it's own unique space and feel to it. It leads you to look at a person in a completely different light. It's a spark. Something that might precede a fire.

Hundreds, thousands of people are online. Hundreds of IMs and mails a week if you have the ability to go through them all. But only a rare few have the spark. I'd completely forgotten what that spark felt like until recently. I'd forgotten it existed. I kept it shelved away with other types of thrill that peek up on a site like this, but this spark is something different. It's not just visual. It's an interest that goes beyond just getting something, or exchanging some witty chit chat.

It's interest. Real interest. Interest that takes you out of the moment and makes you wonder about that person, or that moment, or that message.

You can't go crazy with that spark though. You can't let it spread through your subconscious tinder like a wildfire. Temper it. Breathe on it. Maybe even prepare to extinguish it.

But enjoy it while it's there.
