Celibacy … It’s okay …

Or at least that’s what I’ve been telling myself these past 12 months or so. (Couldn’t say for sure when I last had sex. It’s not like I keep diary notes, but it was probably at least 15 months ago.)

For the most part I haven’t been bothered by the lack of physical intimacy in my life. I live a busy life and have hobbies and other interests, but recently I noticed I was developing an unhealthy obsession with porn. That was a bit of a wake-up call.

I found myself being irrationally judgemental of women I’d meet or see on the street, relating them to the relatively select few young women in the porn industry. And again, it struck me this isn’t healthy.

Check my profile and you’ll see I’m in a relationship. So the obvious question is why not re-invigorate my sex life with my partner? Short answer is, there are health issues. Hers, not mine. (Not looking for sympathy. Just a statement of fact.)

So, here I am. A bit unsure I really want anything to happen. But if something does happen, it has to be with the right person – not just anyone.
Who is the right person?

Physical attractiveness is part of it for sure, but, to put it simply, I want it be someone I really like in terms of personality, intellect and life philosophy.

A ‘partner-in-crime’ you might say. A friend-with-benefits … all of those things.

In some respects it’s a big ask, but it’s a big world. That said, Brisbane is a pretty small town sometimes
