Hey neighbor ..Hows your bird?

" Opium addicted " parrots terrorize Indian poppy farmers crops in the Madhya Pradesh region of India. In recent months parrots are terrorizing farmers who grow opium creating thousands of dollars worth of damage The opium farmers have been experiencing monumental losses of their product during their growing and cultivation season.
Isolated rainfall caused a damper on this poppy product however . the parrots which are extremely addicted to the opium derived from the poppy flower is not making things any better ..Farmers in the Neemuch district in an attempt to discourage the birds have taken to putting loud speakers in fields in order to scare the crazed birds away and have contacted local authorities asking for help in an attempt to with a solution but the calls have gone unanswered so far.
According to one farmer one poppy flower produces around 20-25 grams of opium however the parrots are feeding on the poppy plants around 40 times a day and farmers are fighting the losing battle.Farmers are patrolling fields day and night hoping will scare off the flying drug addicts, but its not working all.The birds wait till the farmers slit open the poppy pods in order to ripen the seeds then in a complete insane drug induced rage the birds fly into the fields actually attacking the farmers and help chasing them off ...this has been ongoing when the birds found the poppy fields and " became addicted".
Moral of the story , maybe check see where you buy any parrot today because you may have to send it to rehab first ..lol

I can relate to this. My farm is certified organic, I am not sure the organic corn and soybeans doesn't attract wildlife. Last year I estimated at least five thousand dollars worth of damage from just deer. I believe they are addicted also. Ha ha

Anything worth doing is worth doing right

I know you have most farmers who grow crops have encountered at least one prominent pest during the growing season...I do sympathize with any farmer or even those who grow for themselves.this is a very unique situation ...lol thought people may like this story ..deer is really an animal that can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time yes...maybe addicted never know...lol

And oh the things they say!

But I still prefer stories of drunken moose in Canada. Because the berries ferment on the bush, and a moose has to eat something...

Even an herb as sweet as basil is nothing without its bite.
