Me and My Big Mouth… and A Solid Offer…😮❗
Me and My Big Mouth… and A Solid Offer…😮❗ You know me, right? I opened my big mouth and before I knew it, I’d stepped into something that I hadn't expected. It all began simply enough, yesterday afternoon. I’d stopped in a tranquil park and walked out of my car to breathe in the fresh, pine forest air. Phone in hand, I took a random picture and was putting my camera away when I heard a voice. "Is your car for sale?" The question came from a young man who was sitting in a nearby black sedan. I hadn't even remotely considered selling my vehicle. I'd just changed the rear disc brakes, put in a new front suspension and replaced the tie rods and ball joints. The car handled like a precision-tuned appendage to my body. But, I answered with the first stupid thing that flew into my brain. "Sure, if the price was right," and I waited for the young man's reply. "What number did you have in mind?" was his response. "Throw one at me," was my retort. He flung a - ‘I’m not fucking around’ - dollar figure at me. My jaw would have dropped, but I'm a trained salesman and never flinched. As I began to describe my 'ride' and all its particular quirks and features, that young man stepped out of his car and strode towards mine - with keen interest. For shits and giggles, I suggested a test drive and in a flash, we were zipping along a winding country road. That put my car through some strenuous paces. Wide gummy tires gripped tight curves and bends and flew up hills, and sprinted long stretches of the flat open road. The tachometer easily kissed 7,000 rpm a few times, as the engine roared in approval. That young man was smiling from ear to ear. When we got back to our original spot - and after examining the guts under the hood and up, and around my four-wheel consort - we exchanged contact information and parted ways. I thought nothing more was to come. An hour later I was proved wrong. I was sitting in my living room when I received his text. It was a better than fair offer to purchase my car. He added one request; the deal had to be finalized by today. NOW, my jaw had dropped. I stopped what I was doing and quickly drove to my 'car guy', to see what he had in stock. I was actually relieved when he announced his verdict, "I don't have anything good at the number you're looking for Paul." After all the repairs and the money I'd just put into my car, the offer I had was great - just not GREAT enough to put me into a comparable car. I texted back the disappointing news to the man with the offer and thought for a second, “I think I should keep my mouth shut next time.” Then I thought again, “What if, he’d offered me a couple of thousand dollars more?” Do you have anything that you WOULDN’T sell - REGARDLESS of the price? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O |

If I could have found a good car at the price I was looking for, that young man would be driving my car. I drove my car to the lake today and took the corners - extra tight. Damn, that thing tracks on rails.😎👍❗❗ ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I thought long and hard about what I own or possess, that I wouldn’t sell for the right price. And you know what? I couldn’t come up with anything that I wouldn’t give, for the right price. Am I shallow? Hmmm…🤔 ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I would like to say that I wouldn't sell some of the mementos I have from my mom - like the painting. But you're right, at some point if enough were offered, I probably would cave. My current car - I am not attached to very much at all, and if someone offered way more than it was worth, well I could pay for a lot of uber and lyft rides until what I want comes into stock at a dealer. I'm hardly going anywhere except grocery shopping these days, anyway.

I couldn't sell my dog. Or my cat. She is a great killer. Everything else is negotiable. Humans not included as that is illegal and immoral.

Seriously...why didn't he throw in his car with the cash? I can't help but wonder why it had to be finalized so quickly....bet he was on the 'lam' Since I'm at the point in my life where I'm giving things away to the next generation, I can't think of anything that is price tag exempt. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Just goes to show, you never know when an unexpected opportunity may come along. How you choose to react to it makes the difference. I have many keepsakes that are reminders of special times with my grandparents, parents and my kids. I find it hard to part with them despite ongoing efforts to 'downsize'. I don't think my decisions would change no matter what $ was offered.

That was my first 65 Plymouth Satellite, bought in 68, I was on my way home to get married, sold it in 71 on my way to Korea. Wanted my wife to have new car. In 75' I bought another one that still looked that good, new motor, transmission and all new under carriage, I was the third owner. A friend replaced the A/C with a larger one, a/c was rare in 65 and not very efficient but a must have in Dallas Tx. In 78 I was detailing it in a park when a young man walked up and said his Dad wanted to buy him a car like that for his first car! Like u I thew a ridiculous price at him, an hour later, with a wad of cash in my pocket, as I watched them drive off i'm saying "WHY DID DO THAT" Boys and their toys!

I don't think I'd sell my Norton's or my guitar. I'd like to leave them to my grand daughter.

Your body... lol 😂 That's good! But what if... someone offered you $10 million bucks? What was that movie? Memories are hard to part with. I understand. ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I'm hardly going anywhere except grocery shopping these days, anyway. I look at people who've lost everything in a flood or hurricane and wonder what I would do. Continue... I guess. I have a backup plan for all my pictures and videos. I hope I never have to use it. I rely too heavily on my car to live without one. Now... if I lived closer to the city...? hmmm, then I might have put your plan into action. 😊 ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I couldn't sell my dog. Or my cat. She is a great killer. Everything else is negotiable. Humans not included as that is illegal and immoral. That's pretty much how I'd feel. Everything else would be on the table! 👍 Getting back to those pets... Now THAT cat... (if I had one), could go for a price. 😊 Yeah I know. I'm bad. He, was driving his father's BMW. The father had just separated from the mother and had left. The dad needed his car and the son needed one THAT day. Now what he was doing looking for a car in a park? Good question. That's your détective side kicking in. lol 😂 Good questions.... all of them. I'm in the same boat as you. It's such a shame that I can't find a good home for my books. Wouldn't your local library take your books? Or you could donate them to a woman's shelter. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I don't think I'd sell my Norton's or my guitar. I'd like to leave them to my grand daughter. The guitars? What do you have? Fender Strat? Gibson Les Paul? Classics, both. I'll throw in another $3 million for those. Wouldn't your local library take your books? Or you could donate them to a woman's shelter. The novels and other books I have were refused as well. I have a lot O would sell material things that need to go but to the right buyer for the right price: antique crystal goblets [ I am using them no sense in hoarding them] a lot of valuable Limoge [ not using] and an hist of other inherited thingies- Craigs List is Out. But I will keep my body and soul for myself along with my intelligence. PS Great post!! (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

Another option for your books - there’s an organization in Minneapolis called the Women’s Prison Book Project. Just what it sounds like. There may be something similar in your area.
