Empty of fish

Dawn breaks over the horizon, the light playfully dancing on shimmering waves of fresh water. Birds are chirping in a din of coo's and whistles, puncuating the inumerable sounds of so many insect and wildlife. The smell of pine needles and birch fade in contrast to the smell of a burning firepit. The air is a damp cold breeze, moving morning fog over the small island, before dispersing through the forest.

The cool clear water kisses the banks of a shore, moving past the ankles of a lone fisher, then receadeing. Minows swim swiftly through the banks, dragonflies are feasting on mosquito's, no fish are biting. It's time's like these that a person wishes they knew more about fishing beyond what they've seen on television. The calm of the morning warrants no agency. Casting off again, then slowly reeling after a momentary pause, the same routine becoming habitual.

In a fit of idle boredom, the unlucky fisher packs away the gear, deciding to swim instead.

...since there's no one around, it's time to get naked as nature. we were born to be wild.

Beautiful writing. I can picture it all in my mind. Do you do any other writing? You are very good at it.

Thank you kindly. I keep a journal every now and then, but haven't done anything beyond these blogs. I like reading, and I prefer hearing stories as opposed to telling them. i appreciate the feedback, it made me smile. thank you again!
