trump vs. democracy: It’s now come to this! This is not the way Presidents behave. These are the actions of a desperate dictator clinging to power against the will of his people. This is not a game. It’s trump vs. USA trump’s post-election delusion and denial is getting more ominous by the day. trump and his sycophants — which, most distressingly, include a majority of Republican senators and House members — are either parroting unfounded claims of widespread election fraud or allowing them to seep deeper into the public consciousness through cowardly silence. President-elect Joe Biden not only is being denied federal funding for the transition, he is not being given access to the Presidential Daily Briefing. trump is performing a purge at the top levels of the Department of Defense for who-knows-what endgame. He is crying about a “stolen election” even as the courts are rejecting his empty claims, and even though Biden has defeated him by a significantly larger margin than trump enjoyed over Hillary Clinton in 2016. It has quickly become clear that the lawsuits (the trump campaign has) filed are at worst frivolous and at best challenging small numbers of ballots that won’t change the outcome. Top Republicans have nonetheless gone well beyond the evidence to falsely and irresponsibly suggest that the winner is in doubt. How long will it be before other Republican leaders put country before party and confront trump with reality? trump, you are dividing and damaging our democracy.  |

MAGA = Morons Are Governing America He's made the above point about MAGA, over and over. Bill Barr needs to realize that MAGA also stands for My Attorneys Got Arrested. Barr may well follow Trump's personal attorneys in being DIS-Barred. Trump's long-time fixer Roy Cohn was disbarred for multiple ethics violations. His more recent fixer Michael Cohen was disbarred following his felony conviction. No doubt his current fixer Rudy Giuliani will soon be disbarred. I suppose a silver-lining in the dark cloud that represents the current administration is that the yes-men and numpties who remain are basically incompetent. Scary thought how much further they could have undermined democracy if Trump did more than watch cable-tv and Tweet-SHOUT his imagined grievances.

A petulant child! I heard an interesting concept....that he is gathering support AND funds with his voter fraud challenge , to pay for his campaign debt. He is deeply in debt and if he concedes then there is no need for further monetary contributions. and of course the other conversation is that the moment he leaves the confines of the white house, he will be put in handcuffs . Its always been curious to me why he wont release his taxes and he wont release his DNA, both things that would/could exonerate him, if innocent. Plain n simple...he 's a mess and in a world of trouble. I, for one, dont expect any miracles from Biden either, as he has inherited a mess. ~~

 ....great post.. I believe trump is fighting it because once he is no longer president, he can, and should be charged with criminal offenses. They long ago said a sitting president can't be charged but he can once he is dethroned. I hope and pray he is charged and jailed. Some of his cronies should be too!

After four years of terror and histrionics, anything less would be out of character. Trump is literally and figuratively fighting for his life, wealth and legacy. While he may self-pardon and dodge Federal indictments, he faces civil and criminal proceedings at State levels, for which his Presidency has provided a temporary shield. He is saddled with massive debt on under-performing properties against which he has pledged personal assets. Again, he has wielded his Presidency as a revenue-generator (with side-dealing as well) to forestall and/or mitigate his eventual reckoning. Trump is surrounded and, like George Armstrong Custer, he is making his last stand. Given that he is constrained neither by morals nor ethics, he is leveraging his fabricated accusations to tap his base for fresh money. I am amused with his ploy to bait with the fiery (and misdirecting) notion of *owning the libs* on election results and, by sleight of hand, funneling contributions into a newly-minted PAC that will keep his family on a payroll and subsidize construction of a digital propaganda platform to compete with Fox and OAN for the hearts and souls of our idiocracy. His enablers and collaborators are along for the ride because, well, apres Trump, le deluge. Like most low-level criminals, his appointees are unemployable in any other capacity. And the career politicians can rely upon the news cycle's ceaseless churning to wash-away their current *antics* soon after Trump is evicted from the White House. For the moment, they are loving *the smell of napalm in the morning*....even with defeat (for Trump, sadly not these political cockroaches) almost certainly assured. That said, Democracy is a stubborn thing. My outlook remains sanguine.
