fakes, frauds and scams

i was on here 15 yrs ago and seem to remember it to be a place where there were legitimate people looking for other like minded people, so when i rejoined last month i expected it to be much more legitimate than the many scam sites that are out there online today. here is what i have found. i have had conversations, which i describe as more than just a few hi , hey, what are you doing, back and forths, with probably 15-20 people. of those, 6 continued to more conversations via email and text. i have had 2 meetings. the first never indicated they expected money until we actually met and were eating. 1 turned out to not nearly be as attractive as their pics and therefore no connection. 2, which seemed very promising were running a pretty elaborate scam where i finally caught them both using very similar stories regarding being on a mission trip with the un in africa. i believe they were the same person using two different profiles and were gathering more info each time that could lead to identity theft. of the other two, only one is legitimate but not the female i was hoping for but a tv. i have blocked and reported several more who quickly tripped up and were caught as fakes or scams. it's very sad and disappointing and tells me that good old fashioned bars or<b> </font></b>are probably the only way an older single guy is going to be able to hook up. i am also surprised by how many young women are on here saying they are looking for a long term relationship. most have again been fake but a couple i have chatted with seem legit. my advice to them is that if you are looking for dates than use tinder, if you are looking for a relationship use match.com and if you are looking for your life partner use eharmony. this is a hookup site at best and a scam site mostly.
