Bye Bye, Big Apple
Bye Bye, Big Apple I took the train back to hell, er, I mean Jersey, today. NYC was not as much fun as it could have been because I have this awful cold. I have been hacking and coughing for a week now and it just won't end. Gasp! Wheeze! As usual, fuck all to do in NJ, so I went to the movies. I didn't know the schedule so I just picked one starting soon. It turned out to be a good choice. The Inside Man was a decent heist flick. A nice change of pace for Spike Lee. It still had his usual social commentary but it was not overbearing. His overly technical cinematography worked well here, too, helping to set the emotional stage. I think David Mamet's Heist was better for twists and turns but Spike Lee still managed to make The Inside Man fun. I even want to see it again to figure out how one of the characters knew something and who everyone was. My weekend in NYC was uneventful. Blind Date #2 and I walked around central park and went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is on the Eastern edge of the park, then back to Times Square to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe. That was my one touristy compromise. I HATE tourist traps like the Empire State Building. My cold/cough was a bit of an annoyance, somewhat reducing the romantic atmosphere. I dunno what will happen with us, but I'm not ruling anything out yet. It was certainly my strangest second date! |

Well at least she didn't turn out to be a chainsaw murdering psycho maniac of the type that would put Glenn Close from Fatal attraction to shame! Hope you feel better soon! -B
