Let me preface this post by saying that I get a lot of nice mail from some nice people, and I appreciate it. But every once in a while I get something that really just confuses me. This one I felt I had to post. It's from someone who will remain anonymous, and did not have any pictures on his profile (comments in bold, all spelling mistakes original):

"I can't begin to tell you how much you got out my balls with your pics I'm sorry, "got your balls out?" And how much was it? All the way out? I'm not sure how to quantify this. I stroked for hours Literal hours? Jesus you must have been chafed by the end to you with the thought of penetraing your tight body with my 9" cock Read: 3" cock. I printed out the pic of you smiling, then blasted my load all over your happy face with those perfect tits and tight pussy. Okay, now this is confusing: is this supposed to be hot? Am I supposed to be impressed by your (presumably) color printer? I mean, isn't it every girl's dream to have their picture ejaculated upon? It isn't? Who finds this sexy?
If you want to enojy a 9" Read: 2.5", shaved, long, thick Italian cock, i can be reached at ******
I IMAGINE FUCKING YOU FROM BEHIND Why are you yelling?, PULLING ON YOUR HAIR, AS I UNLOAD MY HOT CUM INTO YOUR PUSSY, YOU REACH BACK AND MASSAGE MY BALLS Again, "massage your balls"? That's not really doing it for me right now.
I AM YOUNG ENOUGH TO KEEP UP OR OUT LAST, AND OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO.Aaaaand we're still yelling for some reason
You're a sexy little girl that needs to be disciplined by Daddy's shaved, 9 inch Read: 2"cock aren't you? Okay, so now we've switched gears to the daddy/ Freudian thing. Does my name look like it's Electra?
When am I going to get to feel your tight, little, pussy wrapped around my cock? Hint: never
I can't begin to tell you how much cum I have shot onto your pic. Again: no. No no no no no. No.
I WANT TO FEEL MY LOAD GO IN YOU. Again with the yelling!
****** AT *******, IF YOU GOT IT. I also have a cam. Ha! Love how that ends. Oh, please, don't keep me in suspense, when can I cam with you?????

Ridiculous.

I'm not the first one to point out that one major problem in the anonymous world of online dating is people pretending to be people they're not. Men pretend to be women, and maybe women even pretend to be men (maybe?) and when someone really cute sends you a message everyone has that moment of deliberation where they think "is this person *really* real?" Some of the fake profiles are simply hilarious: bleach-blonde girls with giant fake tits, touching themselves on the edge of a bathtub in a picture that was obviously cropped to remove the watermark from whatever site it was stolen from is not going to convince anyone. And when they send you the uber-eloquent:

"your hot wnna chat"

it pretty much seals the deal.

(Side rant: you have no idea how many messages I get that mix up "your" and "you're". This drives me *crazy*. Yes, I am a stickler for grammar.)

But this post isn't about all that.

This post is about how ridiculous Adult Dating zone is, specifically the front page. Anyone visiting for the first time, like me so many months ago, was astonished at how gorgeous the "real profiles" of women and men on the front page were. And they were all in my area! Seeing someone I thought particularly attractive, I noted their user name and did a search after logging in. Surprise surprise, the user did not exist. Visiting a friend in Edmonton a while ago I was astonished to see that all of these beautiful people had suddenly moved to Alberta as I traveled! Quelle coincidence!

Okay, this is crazy. There are so many legitimately attractive people on this site, why does Adult Dating zone feel the need to resort to this kind of trickery? I imagine that a website such as this one getting the reputation of having a bunch of fake members could cripple it; ironic then that they use this very same technique to lure people in in the first place.

This isn't a hard fix: when signing up, you check a little box that says something like "I agree to let Adult Dating zone use my profile on the front page" or something. Or maybe you could pay credits to be a front-page profile. The possibilities are numerous. But please, Adult Dating zone, don't be any more fake than you already are.

So I've been getting a lot of e-mails lately, which I really like since, hell, it's nice to be popular. But really now, some of these are just ridiculous. I've amassed quite a number so I thought I'd share some of the ridiculousness (user names kept private in order to spare :

Subject: "hi"

"let me tell you what i would do to you well, first i start with your neck and make all horny than ill start playing with your boobs and suck them out mmmmm than i go down to ur fucking sexy pussy and start eating it all up tell its all wet . than i make you suck my fucking 8" dick after that ill fuck you like no other . that you wouldent be able to walk after for 30min mmmm all the fun you can get"

(I don't even know what to do with this one. I mean, I love to "make all horny" as much as the next girl, but this really isn't doing it for me)

Subject: "naughty or nice"

"you seem nice and interesting.
Do you have more pics of yourself. I have a question for you. you're probably going through 300 e-mails a week What makes you really attracted to a guy? His sexy, muscular physique, his large endowment, his sense of humour, his confidence...what is it that would make you wanna talk to a guy?"

("Do you have more pics of yourself" is the second line. Ugh. This guy also describes himself as a "10/10". Give me a break)

Subject: "hey...whats your favorite color?"

"My names Andrew, Im from mississauga, 19 full time musician, love the leafs and the jays, love going to concerts, love music, bands like the beatles, zep, zztop, velvet revolver, pantera, megadeth, old-metallica, judas priest, lamb of god, tool, and more, writing, writing music, reading thrillers, movies, and of course playing guitar. If any of those one things interests you give me a shout back!..........................but one way or another at least tell me what your favourite colour is!"

(Wow, what just happened? That's great that you...like shitty music?)

Subject: "hi"

"how about some hardcore fun?"

(Same author as the first "hi" message!)

So yeah, that's pretty much it. Just complaining for now. More social commentary soon.

Feminism, Pornography, and Adult Dating zone

So I realize that this is opening up a can of worms, but I was having a discussion with a friend of mine about genuinely enjoying pornography, or at least certain types of it. My friend was shocked, since we are both self-described feminists, whatever that even means anymore (I suppose roughly that we both believe in making active strides towards the equal treatment of women in society, although feminism has also come to represent alternative modes of looking at problems in philosophy, science, and the like), and, according to her, clearly feminists are not allowed to like pornography.

From what I've experienced, there are two main camps on the issue: one is the traditional anti-porn, stating simply that pornography in general not only reinforces the stereotypes of the sexually submissive woman, but often goes beyond that into the realm of humiliation and therefore implies the inferiority of women to men overall. Essentially, women are treated as objects, means to an end, and that's bad (for those in the know, this is a distinctly Kantian view).

On the other hand, certain types of pornography can be seen as empowering for women, especially if those in the starring roles are not doing the acting out of any kind of desperation or coercion, and if they are not being humiliated or doing any sort of humiliating things to others. If this is the case, then it seems like getting pleasure out of viewing pornography can be a good thing, inasmuch as one deriving pleasure counts generally as good (again, the technical jargon here would be that this is generally a utilitarian viewpoint).

I tend to be on the side of the latter: I'm not one of these people who thinks that pornography in any and all of its forms should be banned, and I'm not naive enough to think that so-called "artful nudity" does not count as pornography (it's often quite a blurry line). I'm not into this whole "jizzing on her face", to use the parlance of our times, because of the concerns of the first camp above, and neither am I so much into the black-and-white lounging girl with carefully placed beams of sunlight in a quasi-artful, wannabe Rubenesque pose, because it just isn't really that stimulating. Usually I am for something in between.

So here's the question about Adult Dating zone: does this site count, in some ways, as a porn site? I mean, you open up your homepage and you've got naked pictures of people coming at you from all directions. Open up your mailbox, check your winks, read your blog comments, nudity, nudity, nudity. I seem to think that since everyone in the pictures are consenting adults then it generally falls into the category of the latter camp, but at the same time, does the more "hardcore feminist", for lack of a better term, have a point that this site might encourage the objectification of women? Or men, too? For those of you who like pornography, what kind do you like, and can you justify it in the light of feminist concerns? Do you feel the need to justify it? What do you feel about this?

So I've been gone for a little while here, went camping, chilled out, took a little bit of a break from the veritable whirling dervish of sexual enticement that is Adult Dating zone (look, I've already spent too much time here, I'm already starting to abbreviate), but not I'm back...with some complaints. Okay, I know that there's this whole system of membership and upgrading and silver and gold and whathaveyou, but being a starving student (well, maybe not starving quite yet, seeing as I've still got a little bit of meat on my bones) I cannot in any way justify doling out the x number of dollars per month or year or whatever or such a frivolous enterprise as this. Which is not in itself something to complain about: I realize how the business works, and how extra incentives are no doubt worth the money for those who can afford it. What is a little weird, however, is the nature of the restrictions that are put on little ol' standard member me. Specifically, I am not allowed to upload more than 5 pictures in my private photo album. Why? Isn't the point of this here site to encourage ladies and gents and couples to show off their goods, rather than discourage it? It's confusing.

So perhaps a workaround. Let's be honest here: the attraction of this site is largely based in its ability to nurture our voyeuristic tendencies. One of those tendencies is to watch while knowing that the person you're watching doesn't know you're watching them. The other is to do the showing off, to be the watched. So I suppose the limitation on standard membership to only post a few photos exists because the people who run this site know that people want to be watched, and will pay for it.

But a new friend of mine on this site noticed that one can put pictures in their blog without any kind of limitations. So I'm thinking this is something I'm going to start doing. Because I'm here not just to see, but to be seen. And, hell, so are you.

Carnival

Let me just start out by saying that the comments on my last post were really great. I'm going to look at them in more detail soon and create a post looking at some of the ideas presented there. Keep 'em coming!

One thing that this site is, is a carnival. There are feasts for the eyes, little balloons are constantly popping up places, new mail, new friends, new requests, new comments, everything is brand new and everything is a mile-a-minute. You could spend your entire afternoon, nay, your entire day just looking at profile pictures, there are so many and they're so tantalizing. It's no surprise that there are so many members on this site.

One comment I will address that came up in a previous blog post pointed out the anonymity factor in being someone on the internet. I think this is definitely a factor that contributes not only to the allure but also the popularity of these kinds of sites, but I think it's also an interesting juxtaposition that, while being in some ways "anonymous", people post pictures of themselves in the most vulnerable of situations. What's I think is also interesting is that a lot, and I mean a lot, of people visit these sites. Your friends and neighbours visit these sites and see you, and you visit this site and see your friends and neighbours. I think there's a sexual revolution going on here, but it's scope is not yet quite clear: are we going to remain a largely "anonymous" group of sexually active people, or is this phenomenon which is currently limited to the internet going to spread out into the rest of society, into the "real world"?

Popularization of online dating and its mutually reinforcing effects on stereotypes

So you've decided to continue with me on my journey. Welcome along! It seems already like it's going to be one hell of a ride.

I've made one introductory blog post, with what I think is a relatively flattering picture of yours truly, and my first comment I've received was "I want to fuck u." This came as a little bit of a shock, since the content of the post was almost the furthest thing from being overtly sexual. So here's my daily musing.

Online dating and online-sexual-encounter-meeting retains a certain amount of stigma in North America especially (apparently in Japan it has become almost the norm). I think the former has had its stigma significantly reduced, and it I'd say it would be difficult to find anyone who hasn't either at least taken a shot at the online dating thing, or at least known someone who has. Thus online dating has become more "normal", if only for the reason that, well, everyone is doing it.

The online strictly-sexual-encounter thing, however, I think still retains a much greater amount of stigma out there in the grand scheme of things. Inheriting the stigma from being openly sexual in any context is no doubt a large factor, but, to put it plainly, it still seems like these kinds of these sites are inhabited by a majority of horny dudes. The stereotype of the acceptably sexually-uninhibited man is only reinforced when looking at member numbers broken down by gender, especially when one looks at the number of active webcams on this site.

So perhaps I should have included a provisio in my initial post. This blog will not be a great detailing of my sexual exploits down to the minutiae of how often I orgasm or my favorite position or how much lubrication was produced in any given personal encounter, but will rather examine the phenomenon of online sexual communication and human interaction in general, to try and get an idea of what the hell is actually going on here. Give me your thoughts, your ideas, and save me your weak passes, your pick-up lines, and your SMS-inspired abbreviations of already very short words. To abuse an already cliche modicum of wisdom, the brain is the most sensitive erogenous zone of all.

Welcome all! I have recently become incredibly bored with the standard dating and mating activities of the hoi polloi and thus have turned to that most nourishing mother of our perverted desires, the internet. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here, but I've decided to approach the subject with an open mind and as few inhibitions as possible. What kind of people will I meet? What kind of adventures will I have? That's all most likely coming up in the upcoming days, weeks, and maybe even months if things start off well.

I'm cute, sassy and busty. What more could you possibly want?
